I recently spent a long weekend exploring the Sunny Coast region with my man, thanks to Jetstar (who now fly direct from Adelaide) and the lovely people at Visit Sunshine Coast.
I can tell you, this place is like a dream. White washed beaches, water holes, tropical walking trails, vast bushland and sweeping views from all corners of the hinterland. Not to mention that there is an abundance of healthy and delicious food options, local produce markets, gorgeous little boutique clothing stores, and wonderfully friendly, hospitable people!
Adventures were many, and photos a plenty! Below are some highlights of our time in the sunshine.
The only time I will EVER get up at 4 am is for a view at sunrise… Mount Coolum you were worth it!
A visit to the Eumundi Markets is a must – they have something for everyone here. We started with food and a super delicious coffee as our tummies were rumbling from that hike! Then we checked out the talent, and wow there are some creative people in this place! We met so many beautiful locals at their stalls, and could have stayed alllll day if we weren’t on a schedule! Such a good vibe.
Gardner’s Falls was just a magical spot to take a breath, cool down with a swim, and relax for a while. We found our own little waterhole to swim in, as the actual falls were packed!
Wine time at Flame Hill Vineyard, with sweeping views of Montville and the hinterland – the perfect stopover.
Walking the Noosa National Park coastal trail was incredibly serene. I loved every nook and cranny that this track led us to. There were countless beachy coves and rock pools to stop at for a swim along the way (nudey beach included). We hung out at Winch Cove for a while, swimming and baking in our own little private cave. On the treck back we did have an encounter with a brown snake so make sure to have your eyes peeled!
A cheers from the Coolum Beach Surf Club balcony is necessary… such a relaxed atmosphere, and there are stunning views over the surf.
Poets Cafe in the picturesque Montville had the best views over the hinterland, and the best croissant I have EVER eaten!
Oh Peregian, you made my heart flutter! In all ways. The beach, the sunsets, the boutique stores, the pub, and the perfect squeaky white sand – this tiny beachside town is not to miss.
Now THIS PLACE was a huge surprise. I was not expecting this hidden oasis to pop up in the middle of the bushy hinterland – the walk was just stunning. All I could hear was the swishing of the trees, the cries of birds (literally, one species called the Green Catbird sounded like babies crying!), and our own footsteps. Our senses were just overtaken with the smells of lush rainforest fresh and running creeks – the smell of nature. Just sublime!
After our walk through the rainforest, we were parched and saw a little van selling water. We grabbed a few and then trundled over to a viewing platform we noticed… this was our view. The beautiful Glass House Mountains sitting pretty!
We were very spoilt on our last night by The Getaway Pantry. It was a perfect end to an amazing weekend, where we were spoilt with bubbles, strawberries, music, and this incredible view over the Noosa Spit. The perfect night of romance to say the least!
